What kind of saw are you using? Jigsaw with a fine enough blade shouldn't cause 
trouble.

I'm assuming you're using an oxy-acetylene torch.  Too much melting means too 
big of a tip.  Search YouTube for how to videos that will help you make sure 
you have the technique is down or consult a mentor.  Torch cutting will leave a 
rough edge anyway unless you're really good, so it's best used for rough cuts.
