Just a thought re: treating inaccuracies without using [sic] or [i.e.   ].


The cataloguer could supply the correct word/term in square brackets
accompanied by a note that describes the inaccuracy?  So for the examples
provided in the draft:


The [world] of television
     Note:  The word world is incorrectly spelled as wolrd on t.p.


by [William] A. Block
     Note:  Statement of responsibility incorrectly reads Willam A. Block.


[MDLII]
     Note:  Date of publication incorrectly reads: DMLII.
