Joan,
Thanks very much for pointing this out. I know it's in there somewhere! The
point I was trying to make is that I'm not very conversant in RDA, and simply,
literally, don't have the time to dig into it and get as familiar as I wish I
could since, like so many others out there, I have so much else to do besides
cataloging, and I'm the only full-fledged cataloger here. I am just thankful
for people like Mark, you, and others on this list who ask - and especially
answer - questions that save me some time and frustration. I will look at
D.1.2 and LC-PCC PS for 1.7.1 now that you told me about it, but for those
occasions when I'm pressed for time and need to get something cataloged,
cheatsheets like Mark's and Mac's will be a big help.
Humbly,
Chris

Punctuations are included in RDA Toolkit Appendix D.1.2 and LC-PCC PS for
1.7.1[http://access.rdatoolkit.org/images/rdalink.png]<http://access.rdatoolkit.org/document.php?id=rdachp1&target=rda1-787#rda1-787>
GENERAL GUIDELINES ON TRANSCRIPTION

In the LC-PCC PS general guidelines, you can see "Punctuation at the End of
MARC Fields 245, 246-247, 250, 264, 300, 310/321, 362, 490".

Are there other references about punctuations in RDA Toolkit?

Thanks,

Thank you, Mark, for sharing this document with us. For those of us who don't
have the ability (for a variety of reasons) to delve into the minutiae of RDA,
helps like the one you shared here are a huge blessing. I've printed a copy to
keep with my RDA materials, and I know I will refer to it often. I had
forgotten the whole "double punctuation" thing, and hadn't been doing that up
to now. It still looks weird to me. If our patrons even notice, I imagine it
will look even weirder to them.

Thanks again.

I agree. However, I still mention this to folks since I can't judge
who does or who doesn't care about this sort of thing. On the double
punctuation point in particular, I add that I don't lose any sleep if
there's a missing period.

Below is a link to the cheat-sheet I created summarizing what
end-of-field punctuation looks like in RDA records, limited to the 245
through 5xx fields. It's based on LC/PCC/MARC practice and colored by
the current edition of the ISBD.
