Hi California based Wrenches,
I'm wondering how you folks are interpreting the CSI (California Solar Initiative) warranty requirements (section 2.4 of the CSI handbook). Here is a quote from section 2.4: "Currently, all systems must have a minimum 10-year warranty provided in combination by the manufacturer and installer to protect the purchaser against defective workmanship, system or component breakdown, or degradation in electrical output of more than fifteen percent from their originally rated electrical output during the ten-year period. The warranty must cover the solar generating system only, including PV modules (panels) and inverters, solar collectors, tracking mechanisms, heat exchangers, pumps, heat driven cooling systems associated with the solar system and provide for no-cost repair or replacement of the system or system components, including any associated labor during the warranty period." I've heard that some companies may not include their roof penetrations and any associated damage caused from leakage in this 10-year warranty. How are you folks interpreting this warranty requirement, especially relating to roof penetrations?
