Hi Jay,
It looks like it is approved in Article 338.10 (B)(4) if you comply with
all the requirements 334 part II ( Romex/NM/NMC).
I have only used it when connecting a exterior meter feeding an interior
sub panel. When I was trained, I was also told that SER cable needs to
terminate immediately after entering a dwelling ( usually in a panelboard).
If it is buried in a finished wall it looks like you are ok. This is how
most sub panels are connected in residential houses as well.
