I am reminded of a saying that was frequently heard in the Navy, circa 1970:

"We, the few, have gotten so good at doing so much, with so little, that soon we shall be able to do everything, with nothing."

I had that one hanging in a very large print at my desk for a former employer who was on a huge downsizing kick. They laid off over 50% of their workforce over the years and then the exec could not figure out why it took longer to get stuff done or cost more ... duh !!!!!!!
