Dear RS,
I'm on a crosspoint in my programming life where I have/want to
decide between RB and ObjC.
The last 3 years I've created some nice Apps with a lot of graphics
in it and all these things were possible thanks to the plugin of
Monkeybread. For me RB was the first step into OO programming after
15 years of programming Cobol on mainframes, (Think)Pascal/C.
When I downloaded RB the first time I'd said to myself: you only have
30 days to create your first OO Mac App. If you don't understand this
way of thinking/coding in this period, forget it forever. And RB came
and won.
At this moment my Apps are purchased each day. I'm happy with it :)
But... It's always a struggle between the speed of RB and the beauty
of the Frameworks of the OS. As said I'm using a lot of graphics and
spend a lot of time in searching for the right way create it between
the relative high walls of RB. RB for me is only used to create Mac
Apps and won't compile to Win.
I know ObjC has high walls too and I know I've to learn anything
again from ground up, but the idea my graphics (the CoreImage/
Graphics stuff etc.) will run smooth, makes me happy and I know my
customers too.
My questions:
When will RB compile Apps to the Cocoa framework. Within months?
When this is done, do I have access to the Core(..) frameworks of
Cocoa without heavy declaring or 3rd party plugins?
Regards,
Jaap Cammeraat
