Steve:

You seem to be saying that there will be no free bug fixes/patches. This
leads, it would seem, to software that can never be nearly bug free. In
other words, parts (possibly large or very important portions of it) of it
will *never* work properly. You would end up purchasing a piece of software
that is unusable.

If this is the case, why would this be something to strive for or accept as
"the way it is" or that "the times are changing, accept it" as I was
preached to so many months ago by other people on the lists?

If you happen to purchase a version of the software that simply doesn't work
properly, and your plan ends on that release, are we really out of luck? As
a customer, I would feel cheated as well as pressured to gamble on yet
another update plan.

In fact, this is the position I am in. My plan ended with RB2006r2. It
sits on my hard drive unused. I was about to upgrade to RB2007r2, but I
keep hedging. I'm still considering the upgrade and have even told myself
that it was partially to support the company, if only in a small way. After
all, it is much more usable now and it does have more features. But I'm
still having a hard time justifying this to myself.

I realize that I am not really an important or influential customer, but
this situation really bothers me. Maybe you can correct me on this.

Please don't take this as an expression of anger, because I'm way past that.
Maybe I am misunderstanding something.

Thanks.
