If you've done work in Windows for a long time, this is old news.

The best way to have plugin support is simply

1) build a better RB support for external components.
2) Have certified escrow services that would protect the user in case
the plugin manufacturer goes away.
3) Have better plugin support or even certification program from RB for
Plugins.(make it cost effective)
4) Create a distribution channel that advertises such components.

I realise the stigma on MAC people and plugins, but in Windows it has
been such a blessing to have millions of components available(ActiveX
and DLL's).

I can get a component for my app(any app) now, right now. For macs, well
thats a different story.
