Hello Tim > Does that make it more clear? Is anyone else not getting my point in > this or am I simply not typing clearly?
I get your point. It's the very reason I don't use plugins and probably never will. To lower my investment risk in this product, I have to eliminate potential snafus. I've seen many hair-raising posts about plugins during beta testing. It's bad enough that RB itself occasionally raises my hair when platforms evolve their operating systems underneath. Lately, I've seen drastic changes in the RB language that have actually broken backword compatibility with projects opened from previous RB versions. Most recently, I've noticed a 2007R1 project that contains updownarrows and chasingarrows, clearly 5.5 elements, are broken when opened with RB 5.5. I'm at a point where any new projects I may create with RB will be from the current rapid entry model versions. My legacy project files have been successfully brought forward to 2007r1. And I'm learning to live with the IDE. But I always have a dark cloud when I wonder whether Leopard is going to break my current RB built releases. It was painful waiting for UB, and now that's water under the bridge.. or is it? It's real easy to blame lack of sales successes being in the developer's "back seat". You go where the developer is able to drive the vehicle. Insurers understand risk. To minimize risk sometimes means to eliminate conditions that might create risk. So I stay with RB Standard to save money, and stay away from plugins to simplify migrating forward with the product. At least until I see my first 1,000 customers. Is there a reference to a transcript of this "keynote"? Is there information in it that I need as a developer that I have to pay $600 plus travel costs to receive? I looked on the RS web site and see no notes about what to expect with upcoming Leopard on Mac. Any cause for concern? Nevertheless, would be nice to see the words of the keynote to learn what to expect in the short run. Perhaps I missed the url? Anyone have a transcript of the keynote?
