And to add - I was using RB for several years, before joining or taking part
in either NUG or forum - EVEN though I was well aware of both. I had no
issues at the time with RB - and arguably got more work done since I wasn't
forever scanning or contributing to mailing lists. So I think its wrong to
assume that simply because people stop participating in mailing lists or
forums that they have stopped using a product.

It might simply be a decision that the benefits of participating don't
justify the time put in.
