Actually, I recall someone who wrote middleware that would accept a TCP connection and would give greater access to the operating system. For example, with RunDLL32 from the MS-DOS prompt, you can call many .dlls. Unfortunately, that was a while ago (pre-View, I think) so it may be hard to try to dig up the info.
