This sounds eerily familiar, so rest assured it's not just you.

We just had a consultant up from RedDot the other week and queried him
at length about server optimisation. From his response it seems there
are many factors, both internal and external to RedDot, which could
have a detrimental effect on performance, and only extensive and
systematic testing will reveal which combination of factors is causing
the slow-down. If it begins to become a major issue it may be worth
spending some money on on-site consultancy to diagnose the problem -
certainly the consultant who visited us was extremely knowledgeable
and helped to streamline some of our processes.

In the meantime, your RQL scripts can be instructed to extend their
tolerance:

' increase timeout for large records processing
Response.Buffer = True
server.scriptTimeout = 900
