I built rpm v4 from CVS tree and then installed the rpm v4 packages from
rawhide only
to encounter the exact problems you describe with names and such being
screwed up.
To fix I went back to the CVS source did make install again to replace the
rpm installed
by the rawhide packages, and did a rpm --rebuilddb after I backed up my
rpmdb. Though
your rpmdb may look grim as long as you don't attempt to --rebuilddb with
the rpm from
rawhide your db will be in perfect working order after reverting to the CVS
version. When
doing a --rebuilddb using the rawhide version it created empty db files,
thank god I backed
up my db beforehand...
Anyway jsut use the CVS version and rebuild you db and all should be
working fine, even
the packages that seemed screwed up in rawhide rpm seem fine in the CVS rpm
though
I had tried reinstalling some rpms a couple times with rawhide rpm so I did
have a couple
duplicate entries for some packages in my db which I fixed using rpm -e
--allmatches <name>
and then reinstalling the packages. Hope that helps.
