So do I, although it does have a problem; sometimes these Mitsumi CDs are
hooked up to cheap sound boards, and it can be a problem getting the CD
interface to work at all without the sound board's drivers.

Even when it should work, it may not. I banged my head against exactly the
same model of CD trying to install OS/2 once upon a time, and ended up
having to make floppies to install the base OS before I could reach a point
where I could get sound board drivers working and use the CD to install
other stuff.

You may need to make a VERY custom boot floppy in a case like that, and I
never even attempted to install Linux from my cheap Mitsumi CD.

The solution I ended up actually using was this:

Traded my cheap soundboard and Mitsumi CD to a Windows 95 user for a
quad-speed ATAPI, and bought a Logitech Soundman Wave to replace the sound
board.

Total expense: $97 (Wal-mart at 4am for the soundboard).

Never had a problem after that. The Soundman Wave is a supported sound
board.

(I got rid of it later due to lack of NT support, but that's another sad
story for another discussion.)

It would perhaps be the best solution if he traded his off, too.
