Hrmmm... You are running 7.2? You are not going to be able to install packages from the 8.0 CD's. Make sure your system is fully up2date, and try installing packages compiled for 7.2. Make sure you are trying to install versions of apt and synaptic that are built for a 7.2 system. If you're having a dependency problem with libc.so.6, then installing a new package is the least of your problems.... On an up2date 7.2 machine, I get: # rpm -qf /lib/libc.so.6 glibc-2.2.4-31 whichcd is not part of the distribution, it's available at http://sourceforge.net/projects/whichcd/ To comply with truth in advertising rules....
