Where can this be done?  And does this mean that in OpenOffice when I select
print, that the drop down box will list the printers configured on the
system or will I have to go into kprinter configuration and change its
default?  I am using KDE.

If you use KDE, set your printer command as kprinter, and you will have
access
to all your configured printers, and then some.
