After I upgrated the redhat from 7.1 to 8.0, I got so many problems with
my perl. I wish some ones can tell me what's going.
(1) First of all, I installed the standard packages of RH8.0. I was trying to build
mod_perl2.0. But I have found there are many problems to be solved. Actually,
the more basic things are yet to be anwsered. When I run my simple perl codes,
it takes 5 or 6 seconds very often even from my local sever. This had never ever happened
to redhat 7.1 or 7.0. What caused the problems? RedHat or Perl 5.8?
(2) When try to do something like $perl -e 'print "test";', I can't get "test". After I change
that command to" $perl -e 'print "test\n";', then that works fine. Why? What causes
such a problme? RedHat or Perl 5.8? Similar thing like: $perl -e 'use English; print "$PERL_VERSION"'
doesn't work at all.
(3) I was very excited when Redhat8.0 and Perl5.8 came out. Now I feel very disappointed.
I don't know which one should be blamed: Redhat8.0, Perl5.8 or myself?

Thank you in advance.
