It gets even odder. I have two other RedHat boxes (one 7.2 and another 7.3) using 3C905's, and not so much as a hiccup from them. Those two boxes are running off of Asus P5A motherboards, whereas the one which gave me problems is on an old Biostar board. I think the problem may be more with a combination of chipsets and the 905's, and less with RedHat.

I had a box running RedHat 7.3 doing this with the exact same NIC. Put a Netgear NIC in, and the problem hasn't come back (8 months now). I've
