I disagree.  When used with Red Hat applications, it does not cause a
problem.

I've heard a lot of silence from a lot of people.  I had no issues
updating my systems.

Then perhaps red-carpet is broken?  Red Carpet isn't a Red Hat
application and I would not expect Red Hat to test against it first.
The general rule of thumb used to be that if you decided to go the
Ximian route, you should get all of your updates from them.  Combining
them has always been dangerous, and I think you got nailed by that
again.
