No i did not get burned by that, I never use red-carpet to update the machine that had the problem, its a server, I used up2date it was that that gave the up2date glibc /usr/bin/python: /lib/ld-linux.so.2: version `GLIBC_PRIVATE' not found (required by /lib/i686/libc.so.6) result.
