True, me too...but if that output is the contents of /var/log/dmesg, isnt that the dmesg output from boot time? Looked like a boot dmesg to me at least... which is why I was asking... if its an audio cd, or perhaps a blank cdr, then either way he shouldnt have a cdrom listing set to automount in fstab...

I'm more inclined to think he has an audio CD in the drive, not a data CD.
