Almost the whole world are sheep for Microsoft, so that moot.
The US consumer market currently understands integer numbering. After all, you grew up with integers long before you realized that there was anything between 1 and 2.
That's great for the US consumer market, and non-tech products. But I'd have to say that the vast majority of people who use Red Hat understand the concept of version numbering.
