had an NTFS file system, and I couldn't read it. Then I thought it's not
available from redhat in any way.

Have you looked at the 7.2 RPM tree? It's either installed by default in Redhat 7.2 (what I use) or available as a seperate module.

I wonder why RedHat removed NTFS support, especially considering XP's default format is NTFS and not FAT32
