Hi Chris (and others: David Fox, Matt Smith, MB),

Thanks for your response to my devious (?) question.
I don't know much about *gif related stuff other than
seeing they are being displayed nicely on my X-window. 
I do have a desire to see how two *.gif are different.
Once you know where is the change, then you can make
further modifications to a *.gif file.  I hope I am 
not asking too much. 

The solution may be sit inside some graphic package 
like gimp (as MB mentioned in his e-mail) which I need
to learn. Also this morning, I found there is a command
'tiffcmp' on my RedHat5.0 which says can compare two
image files - haven't tried yet.

BTW, you mentioned about 'xdelta'. I cannot locate in
my RedHat5.0. What kind of Linux are you running?
