Just to let you know, all's well that ends well. My server software (Web Crossing - great software - and there is a free version now too!) allows server-side scripting. So I was able to execute a Linux "reboot" command via the scripting software and safely restart.
I guess I could probably create a "safe terminal" app in Web Crossing server-side JavaScript if I wanted to take the time. :-) Anyway, the monitor was *not* dead. So even though I tried two separate monitors, that was insufficient information. The signal was just not being delivered. It's probably a bug in the screensaver, which I have now turned off. I guess my next step is turning on SSH services so I can login remotely when needed. Is that really safe? :-) Thanks everybody, for all your suggestions. doug -- redhat-list mailing list unsubscribe mailto:[EMAIL PROTECTED] https://www.redhat.com/mailman/listinfo/redhat-list
