Dear Eduardo and Sean Estabrooks,
I have tried both "ping server3" and "ping server3.vn.ibs-dp.com". But they do not work.

I have also tried modified /etc/resolve.conf with "search vn.ibs-dp.com" but it also does not work.

Thach.

dear Le,

apparently, the name server recognizes 192.168.2.13 as server3.vn.ibs-dp.com as its sole identity. therefore
you should be able to ping server3 with its fully
qualified hostname as server3.vn.ibs-dp.com and not server3 only.

would you try if i'm correct?

cheers!

Hi all,
I have setup successfully BIND service in RedHat. I have also used
nslookup to lookup IP address of a host in Intranet. It'ok.

But "ping <host>" does not work.

Help me why?
Here is my tracking of commands:

[EMAIL PROTECTED] etc]# nslookup server3
Note: nslookup is deprecated and may be removed from future releases.
Consider using the `dig' or `host' programs instead. Run nslookup
with
the `-sil[ent]' option to prevent this message from appearing.

Address: 192.168.2.15#53

Name: server3.vn.ibs-dp.com

[EMAIL PROTECTED] etc]# ping server3
ping: unknown host server3
