ssh would work also. I run rh9 though and i start the service on startup. I also use tightvnc fro a xp into 2 linux boxes. Getting a x client for windows would also be a solution. Then you could use X to switch from copmuter to computer. I think there is a gpl X client for windows out there.

I make use of VNC extensively on either my boxen or customer boxen; I've never liked the "default" server setup/startup for it, so I've created a simple script to fire it up for me; with starting it from the script, I've not had any problems at all, whereas starting it as a service I have had problems. Aside from wanting to customise the type of window I get on a client, I also wanted to change the default wm for some; and then also setup custom screen sizes for other purposes. Have you tried telnet'ing into the machine and manually starting vncserver instead of firing it up as a service to see if the problems remain unresolved? -- Sat Aug 30 07:45:00 EST 2003 07:45:00 up 4 days, 21:31, 3 users, load average: 0.81, 0.89, 0.84 ----------------------------------------------------------------- | __ __ | illawarra computer services | | /-oo /| |'-. | http://kma.0catch.com | | .\__/ || | | |================================| | _ / `._ \|_|_.-' | stephen kuhn | | | / \__.`=._) (_ | email: [EMAIL PROTECTED] | ----------------------------------------------------------------- linux user #:267497 linux machine #:194239 * MDK 9.1+ & RH 9 Mandrake Linux Kernel 2.4.21-11mdk Cooker for i586 ----------------------------------------------------------------- * This message was composed on a 100% Microsoft free computer * An intellectual is someone whose mind watches itself. -- Albert Camus -- redhat-list mailing list unsubscribe mailto:[EMAIL PROTECTED] https://www.redhat.com/mailman/listinfo/redhat-list -- redhat-list mailing list unsubscribe mailto:[EMAIL PROTECTED] https://www.redhat.com/mailman/listinfo/redhat-list
