Are you able to answer any of the question i asked about this problem? Any luck with the .bashrc ?
I thought that I had been answering your questions previously.
Still no luck with the PS1 prompt no matter where I put it in .bashrc
As far as the Kwrite problem, setting Control Center -> Session Manager -> Start with empty session does not stop Kwrite from loading.
There is nothing in the Autostart folder, and ~/.kde/share/config/kwritedrc has in it
[General] Autostart=false
and ~/.kde/share/config/kwriterc has in it

The file that is Kwrite loading when KDE starts is File4=file:/home/bfd/sayings.
I've seen something on one of the Kwrite lists that suggests using the keyboard rather than the mouse would save the settings when shutting down. I've tried that also without luck. What I don't understand is that I am closing Kwrite before shutting down KDE, so that it should not open when KDE loads.
