Hi,
I have not used websphere but have been using java on the server side with
good results.

I like using JSP with a correponding jsp/servlet engine that piggybacks on
apache..

Perl is great but embedding perl in html pages though an available option is
not that cool I feel..just my opinion..no flames pls :)

Though jsp is yet to hit mainstream considering the fact that there are so
many products free and commercial and the large developer base I think it
has a lot of future.

I suggest if this interests u, u try with the many open-source options and
if willing to invest u can go ahead with commercial servers like jrun and
websphere.
