Samba produces error codes to the console when it fails to open the default
log files or the directory which they are supposed to be in does not
exist... when it is started...

Check to see what /etc/rc.d/init.d/smb thinks the file locations are...

Then check to be sure that the files exist (man samba for more info about
the names of the logs...). "touch" the files if need be.

Finally find the line in /etc/rc.d/init.d/smb which actually starts SMB and
NMB change it (I had to) to specify the location of the log files and/or
their names...

This will fix the problem...

how do i set it up to not do that
