Pardon my ignorance, but what does using Kermit as a dumb terminal have to
do with Samba console dump messages, which he is trying to get rid off?

HI,
If you are just using the win machine as a dumb
terminal
you can use kermit95. It allows you to connect over a
tcp/ip
connection and login like you are actually at the linux
box.
The linux side is free but the win side is $54.00. It
also allows
you to dail and do file transfers. It is simple enough
my boss
can use it.
