No, I'm not stating a flame war BUT:

Why do you say stay away from VIA?

I use Octek Rhino VIA boards in all my systems. No problems at all. Even got
DMA66 to run with the kernel patches.

The only board I have really had troubles with are AOpen boards, or more
specifically the AX59Pro. That does have a VIA chipset as well, so your
comment is accepted there, but most of the time I think the chipset isn't at
fault, but the way the motherboard utilises it.

Like I said, I do not want a flame war, but I would like to hear why VIA is
such a bad beast for you.
