Enable SCSI, under that option SCSI generic support and SCSI CD-ROM support
(as modules). I am not sure again if you need to use IDE-CD as a module, or
if you can compile this support straight into the kernel. To only use modules
certainly works.

I use conf.modules/modules.conf instead of an append line for lilo. In
modules.conf use a "alias hdx ide-scsi".
