Sound reasoning as always, Cameron.  I had not thought about the possibility of
multiples.  On my system at least, xntpd does NOT log anything in /var/run.  I do not
know about ntp v4.  I have not used it yet.  I have never used pidof in any scripts and
probably won't now that I know there are problems.
