        ..mmm - well of course ssh is more secure than telnet but
        in a secure network (i.e. non public) with a need for telnet
        access to a host by PCs there is an argument for telnet.

        Of course ssh or openssh are the only viable options for
        sessions over the net.

        However within a domestic network, having regard to
        the currency of password trading among (I could say)
        all users at all sites - i.e. its a fact of life -
        clear text isn't really an issue

        ok - useful info.

        I expect to upgrade to 7.1 over the weekend and I'll be interested
        to see if RH has provided a list of changes comparing 7.0 to 7.1;
        such is the only downside of a linux distribution : services
        "disappear" for no documented reason.
