have you setup user for samba in linux if you dont then login as root in your linux box check to see if the smbpasswd file is in /etc/samba/ or /etc/ depending on your if no then copy from /etc/passwd run smbpasswd <username> and make use that this user in a linux user as well. answer the questions..... in ME, you have to use the same username and password as in linux....and make user that it accepts plain password or samba configured for excrypted password.
