Okay, following Brian's excellent advice, I went ahead and tried to install these rpms:
asp2php-0.75.11-1.i386.rpm MySQL-Max-3.23.44-1.i386.rpm php-ldap-4.0.4pl1-9.i386.rpm MySQL-3.23.46-1.i386.rpm MySQL-shared-3.23.44-1.i386.rpm php-mysql-4.0.4pl1-9.i386.rpm MySQL-client-3.23.44-1.i386.rpm php-4.0.4pl1-9.i386.rpm MySQL-devel-3.23.44-1.i386.rpm php-imap-4.0.4pl1-9.i386.rpm Just concentrating on the MySQL stuff for now... I get these fascinating results: #rpm -e MySQL-3.23.46-1.i386.rpm error: package MySQL-3.23.46-1.i386.rpm is not installed #rpm -i MySQL-3.23.46-1.i386.rpm package MySQL-3.23.46-1 is already installed So...which is it? Installed or not? The daemon isn't up: #mysql ERROR 2002: Can't connect to local MySQL server through socket '/tmp/mysql.sock' (111) I unpacked this tarball in /usr/local /usr/local/mysql-3.23.46.tar.gz So, whereas MySQL *was* working, now it's not, and I've got to get this machine up and running pronto. Sh!t. Ideas on how to clean this mess up? TIA, BenO _______________________________________________ Redhat-list mailing list [EMAIL PROTECTED] https://listman.redhat.com/mailman/listinfo/redhat-list
