Using emacs to edit a 3 line file is a little bit of over kill, but edit 
it any way you like. :) 

Note that the only reason for restarting the machine is to see if that 
solves the timeout problem. There is no need to reboot otherwise.

You shouldn't have to do anything. To the best of my knowledge, both pump 
and dhcpd will modify /etc/resolv.conf by default. I know I had to fight 
with it here to force pump to stop modifying the file on me.

Go ahead, edit the file and reboot. The 'nameserver 192.168.252.200' line 
in resolv.conf shouldn't return.
