Samba won't start, or you can't access a share? Two very different
problems with potentially different solutions.

Have you configured samba? Are there log messages related to samba when
you try to start it? What are you trying to do with samba? What are the
contents of /etc/samba/smb.conf?

It's unlikely that a firewall problem would prevent samba from starting.
However, it is possible that your firewall would prevent you accessing a
share on the samba server, provided samba is actually starting.

We're going to need a little more info to offer any help.
