Hello all:

I originally posted the problems with RH 7.3 in the making of a boot
disk
via the dosutils rawrite.exe on a windoze machine. Using dd did not
solve
my problems either so after several hours of working on this I decided
to
ftp boot.img from the ftp.redhat.com and I made a boot image with no
problem with dd and rawrite also worked. My whole problem turned out to
be a bad cd burn with the first .iso cd. In fact I found that the
contents of my entire Redhat directory was empty. I found this when I
decided to scrap the whole boot.img and go with a bootnet.img from
ftp.redhat.com and do a ftp install via another RH 6.2 machine with
plenty of space. With this install there was no giving up though as I
had waited for approximately 10 days for the download of the RH 7.3
iso's. I am still unfortunately using a 56K modem access to the net
because of lack of any other means other than satellite. The other 2
cd's had good burns just the first one which was either a bad CD or just
plain bad burn. Just have to check every possibility it seems. I now
have a happily running RH 7.3 machine and am ready to see what has
changed.
