        you can query as any normal users do. but u make sure that your local X should 
not be active.
ie u should not have started X server on your local m/c at the time of executing this 
query
if u do you will get the following error

        $ X -query <remotehost>
        Fatal server error:
        Server is already active for display 0
                If this server is no longer running, remove /tmp/.X0-lock
                and start again.

so boot into init 3 and then execute the above command. if you want your system to 
automatically display
remote Server login screen every time u switch on your system. u have to make an entry 
in /etc/inittab file
