What Samba global security setting are you using (security =
share|user|server)?

Did you setup encrypted passwords? 

  links `locate ENCRYPTION.html`
or
  less `locate ENCRYPTION.txt`

Do you have usesr accounts on the Linux box that have the same
username/password as accounts on the Winbox?

Did you setup a share on Samba that allows access to a specific user, or
a public share (guest ok = yes)?
