I run a package called rpmverify regularly. It does a great job of summarizing what has changed for every package installed on your system. Grab it from http://www.rpmfind.net/linux/rpm2html/search.php?query=rpmverify I'm running the mdk package on Red Hat Linux without any problems. It is a lot safer than just doing the rpm -V above since the verification scripts aren't run as root.
