I did like the guy in 2007. But, as I remember, even when he had a phenomenal ERA, he was letting in inherited runners ALL the time.
I was still a fan of his, but I'd cringe and be angry that he would usually let in runners not his. Lefthanders are hitting .389 against him and the first hitter he faces is at .389. Okajima allows a .378 batting average with runners in scoring position and a .409 average with men on base. In high leverage situations, points where the game is on the line, teams are hitting .404 against him with a combined on-base and slugging percentage of 1.073. In nine appearances since June 22, Okajima has a 10.57 ERA and teams are 21 of 42 against him.
