OK, let's not get crazy here. A year ago we loved all these guys. Everything we have heard is based on rumor and innuendo. We don't really know what happened in the clubhouse.
But one thing we all know is that John Lackey is an ass. We've all seen his antics on the field. We've seen his exasperated facial expressions when a teammate makes a play that he thinks is bad. That can't go over well in the clubhouse. We know he elected to divorce his wife in the middle of her battle against cancer. We've seen his sour attitude in interviews. We saw him attack the manager on the field because he was being taken out of a game. The guy is a jerk. Could Lackey be the bad seed that turned this club with championship potential into a loser? I think it's a pretty good bet. Everybody is upset with the way this team finished out the year. But let's not throw the baby out with the bathwater. We have a pretty good core of baseball talent here. I think a new management style will probably help. But I do think Lackey needs to be shipped out - even if we have to pay to do it.
