I agree with your sentiment here Dan. Let's bring Ortiz back, and Ross would be nice too. I expect the Sox feel like their negotiation position will be strengthened when clubs don't start throwing lucrative 3 year deals at Ortiz.
I also think that Sox management is looking at 2013 as a bridge year until they can get a shot at some top free agent pitchers, like Felix Hernandez for instance.
