Novalyne Price Ellis, who dated Howard in 1933-1935, was very emphatic as to
the pronounciation of Conan by Howard: the stress was on the first syllable:
CO-nan. Can dig up some references if needed, as I think this was mentioned
in a speech she gave in 1988, but I very clearly remember her telling me
that.
