Using the theological principal of "the law of first mention," meaning that the first time a principle is mentioned in Scripture is its meaning throughout, in Genesis 2:21-24 God created the first institution - the institution of marriage.  One man and one woman; not Adam and Steve, or Adam and Eve and Ginger.  One man one woman.  That is the Christian basis for monogamy. 
     And I suppose this principle is Biblically authorized or in some other way a requirement on good interpretation and not simply the result of circular reasoning. Right?
