This won't compile for me (on OpenBSD) unless I add

        -std=c99

to the gcc flags. Without that, it fails with:

gcc -c  -g -O2 -Wall -Wextra -DHAVE_CONFIG_H   -I. -I. calendar.c
calendar.c: In function 'Colorize256':
calendar.c:378: error: 'for' loop initial declaration used outside C99 mode
